So with all the hub-bub of the Crockpot Girls on Facebook.  Some blogger friends and I decided to start our own page called the Slowcooker Squad and combine it with a Slowcooker  Linky.  We would love it if you would join us on Facebook- make sure you like the Slowcooker Squad! I made Slowcooker Cranberry BBQ Pork this week- and I have to say it was quite tasty. I changed the recipe quite a bit but I love the blog that {Read More}

Crock-Pot Vegetable Chili

I absolutely LOVE a crock-pot! They are extremely easy to use and make some of the best meals. There are a few main recipes I cook in mine on a semi-regular basis. I’ve done both but for today’s meal I just used canned since I was in a hurry. You can also {Read More}

Gluten Free Scones

April 5, 2011 by jlpenner 3 Comments

I like this recipe. I love that it is super high in nutrition, gluten free, has very little grains and is reduced carb. It’s a great little package for a treat!! I am not sure that these are “Scones You can Serve Guests” , though, not at least if they are expecting regular scones, because that is not what these are. But they are quite lovely and I think you will enjoy them. Maybe next time I will work on {Read More}

So I should have posted this yesterday.. but I just decided to make it today. It would be good to eat any day, though, not just St Patrick’s Day!!  My 5 year old daughter and I made this bread this morning and I am impressed with it- it’s really good! It has a bit of a whole wheat taste to it and is very moist.  I grind my own almond meal in my coffee grinder so the bits of almonds {Read More}

My Secret Weapon Sweet Potatoes

So tonight we celebrated “Friendsgiving”, a tradition we have had for at least a couple years with our home group (Bible Study).  Last year we did it on Canadian Thanksgiving- which is on October.  Thankfully I still had a turkey in the freezer from the year before so I did not cost an arm and a (turkey) leg. It is pretty awesome- all our friends get together with our families and do the whole spread, with everyone’s specialties.  It’s really {Read More}

Relish and Sweet Pickles Recipe

August 31, 2010 by jlpenner 4 Comments

We love to use sweet pickles and relish in EVERYTHING- tuna salad, on hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken salad, etc…So when I had a bumper crop of cucumbers this year, I made sure that I put up a ton of these, so we would have plenty to get us through the winter. The recipe I use for all my relishes and sweet pickles is pretty easy, and so very tasty! I use this same “pickle” for my hot relish, too, which {Read More}
