Orange Chips

March 13, 2014 by jlpenner 2 Comments

orangeWant to make a fun fruit snack for the kids that is not fruit rollups??  Why not try these fun Orange Chips?

I used my dehydrator to make them but if you don’t have one you may want to try your oven at it’s lowest setting.

For some reason mine took a really long time (almost 24 hours) to finish but I think my dehydrator may simply not be the best (or the fact that I dropped it once and it doesn’t close properly any more).  Other recipes for fruit chips don’t take nearly that long so these should take 6-12 hours to get fully crispy.

And here is a good post on storing home dried foods. I like to store things like this in the freezer, just to ensure there is no spoilage.

This is interesting. Never had dried orange chips. Do they come out crispy like a chip or chewy?

I would say more chewy.. but I think if you left them long enough.. they would get completely crispy.
