Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Giveaway and Review

October 15, 2010 by jlpenner 65 Comments

Another Giveaway?  Don’t you feel spoiled!!  This one is going to be a quick one and end next Friday, too- so if you you want to enter, make sure you do now!!

We love our virgin coconut oil in this house.  I can’t get enough of it- so when I have a chance to pick some up at a good price I always do.

I pretty much use it for all my oil except some virgin olive oil for salad dressing and occasional sauteing and tomato sauces.  It is so good.  One of our favorites is popcorn.  We don’t use microwave popcorn anymore- I can’t do it since we have been totally spoiled by the real stuff.  I use an air-popper I picked up at a yard sale for about $2- and that thing must be from around 1979 (but the funny thing is, it still has the original tag!!) and it is yellow- but it works great.  I melt my pastured Kerrygold butter (one of my little splurges) in the microwave and then stir in around 1/2 tablespoon of virgin coconut oil.   It’s pretty much the best popcorn you will ever have, in my humble opinion.

So when I found out I could do a review of Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil I was on top of that. This is suppose to be the Cadillac of Virgin Coconut Oil. Tropical Traditions is a great company to order from and I have ordered some of their wonderful raw honey and coconut peanut butter last year for my husbands Christmas present (he loves raw honey and coconut) . I was so excited to make my popcorn.

So I made it… and to be honest, it wasn’t my favorite. The coconut taste was really different, less distinct than others I have had. So I decided to use it in cooking and that worked out better for me. I like the light coconut taste in most everything (it is nice in eggs)- but sometimes you want a bit less of that flavor and the Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil did that.

I would love for you to be able to give Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil a try and Tropical Traditions has been nice enough to provide us with one 32 oz jar to one of FFD’s readers.

There are a couple ways to win:

1. (required) Sign up to receive Tropical Traditions Sales Newsletter (let us know in a comment that you did so or are already singed up)

Fine print- here at FF&D we want to play fair and have fun- so no cheatin’. If we think something is up your entry may be taken out the running. This decision is solely up to our judgment.
