What is your favorite way of celebrating Gametime? Do you invite your best friends over? Is it family time?
Either way, a great food choice is a taco bar! And my Slow Cooker Taco Meat and Creamy Salsa Dip are perfect for this. Everyone can make tacos their way, just as they like them. A buffet like this is so easy to put together. Grab a package of pre-shredded cheese, chop up the veggies, open and heat a couple of cans of beans and tortilla. Add in Pace® and you are ready to go!
Just head to your local Walmart to get everything you need.
There are so many flavors of Pace®, there is something for everyone. My favorite is Pace® Picante (Mild). I do like hot, too… but tend to keep things mild for dishes like this (especially when I’m cooking for a group). I love that Pace® has genuine southwest flavor that adds a real kick to my dishes.
I actually had never make taco meat in the slow cooker prior to this recipe. And you know what? It’s awesome! The flavor is so much greater than if I were to prepare it on the stove top. I think this is due to the longer cooking time. I highly recommend this method. It’s easy and the taste was out of this world (a lot like taco meat you might get at a restaurant).
To put together the Slow Cooker Taco Meat simply:
- Add 2 pounds ground beef to your slow cooker and break up
- Pour 1 ½ cups your favorite Pace® and ½ tsp salt over meat.
- Stir to combine, cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours on high (2 was fine for me).
And the Creamy Salsa Dip (or sauce) is just as easy:
- Add 8oz cream cheese, 1 cup Pace® and 1/8 tsp cumin powder to a medium saucepan.
- Heat on medium for about 5 minutes, while stirring until smooth
- Do not boil (reduce heat if it starts to boil
- Serve with tacos as a sauce or chips as a dip.
How might you “Make it Saucy” with Pace®? What is your favorite, unique way to use salsa in your snacks and cooking?
