We don’t eat a lot of croutons around here- they are simply an extra expense. But I sure do enjoy homemade ones when we go out to dinner sometimes. I thought I would give you a guys a simple recipe for homemade croutons using up any stale bread you may have around. This is a very easy recipe to half or double (or more) if you need to.

2 tablespoons of melted butter, margarine, or oil
1/8 tsp of salt
Seasoning Options (choose one)
a. 1/2 tablespoon Parmesan cheese and 1.2 tsp garlic powder
b. 1/2 tablespoon Italian herb blend ( or your favorite herb)
c. your choice- play around with your favorite flavors (i.e.- pepper, onion powder, spices, herbs, etc.)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 F
Stack bread and cut into half inch cubes (or around that). Place aside. Melt butter in microwave in a microwave safe bowl. Stir salt and your seasoning choice into melted butter and place bread cubes into the bowl. Toss the bread and the melted butter mixture in bowl until cubes are well coated.
Spread coated bread cubes on a sheet pan and bake 15-20 minutes or until browned. Allow to cool then store in an air tight container or zip top bag.
