Today’s frugal tip is just one you have to test out on your own to see if you like. But to save a little money you may want to try using less laundry detergent.
I recommend just taking out a little at a time and seeing if you or your family notices. We actually have an HE washer and I did quite a bit of research on why you have to use special HE detergent in them. From want I have found is that they bubble up less.
But one day I was out and I had a bottle of freebie detergent I was going to give my mom just sitting there- so I decided to “risk it” and put in 1/2 a regular “serving”- and you know what, it was just fine- no crazy bubbling and my clothes came out clean.
I do know that every washer could be different and you may have a different experience that I did, I found that for me personally it was worth a try- and it worked out for my family!!
Have any of you used less detergent to save money? Did you hate it or love it? Has anyone tried regular detergent in their HE washers?
If you have a frugal tip email it to FFD. We would love to share it.
