100daysdecorswapBuying Christmas decorations every year gets expensive! But you don’t have to spend any money on your Christmas decorations this year—just take out what you have from last year! But sometimes keeping it for years and years can get boring. It’s likely that your friends have a bunch of old Christmas decorations that they want to get rid of. Pick a weekend afternoon a few weeks in advance and invite all your friends over to your place!

Tell them to bring any Christmas decorations that they’re willing to trade—it’s time for a swap.

The day of the party, serve some Christmas cookies and play some uplifting Christmas music. Give each person a different area of your room to set out their decorations. You can run this part of the swap however you want. You might want to just let people walk around and pick freely, or you may want to make people do individual trades in order to keep things structured. Whichever way you plan to structure your trade, you want to make sure that everyone ends up with roughly the same amount of decorations. There are bound to be hurt feelings if some people leave with an armload and others leave with a string of lights and an ornament.

At the end of the party, you’ll have a new stash of Christmas decorations and a fun afternoon with your pals! And anything that doesn’t get choose can either go back home with the person who brought it or to charity.
